No Bake Mars Bar Slice
Everyone’s favourite no-bake slice, Mars Bar Slice is made with just 4 ingredients and takes only 15 minutes to make! It’s the no-bake slice that everyone should have in their recipe book!
The greatest treats are the ones that never fail to bring back a flood of memories. This no-bake Mars Bar Slice is definitely one of those treats! My Nanna (Annie) always made this slice…and it was always irresistible!I love how quick and easy it is to make and my kids (ok and I) love how easy it is to eat. A little too easy to eat…
If you’ve read my About Me you may know that this blog is dedicated to my Nanna. So many of her beautiful recipes are my inspiration. With this slice recipe, I had to adjust the quantities a little, as I’m pretty sure Mars Bars have reduced in size over the years….hmmm…
Just 4 Ingredients!
- Mars Bars: because the size of Mars Bars has shrunk, I’ve had to adjust my Nanna’s recipe and now use 5 Mars Bars.
- Butter: melted with the Mars Bars
- Rice Bubbles: folded through the mixture for crunch
- Milk Chocolate: for the topping
How to make this easy no-bake slice
Mars Bar Slice is one of the easiest treats to make! Here’s what you do:
- Chop the Mars Bars and melt in a saucepan with the butter
- Fold the Rice Bubbles into the melted mixture
- Pour into a lined pan and smooth
- Top with melted chocolate, then refrigerate
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
How to melt chocolate in the microwave
When melting chocolate in the microwave, you really need to keep an eye on it, as chocolate can seize up pretty quickly! I use a 180g block of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate. To melt it, you break it into single pieces, then pop it into a microwave safe bowl. Plastic works better, as glass retains heat and will continue to heat the chocolate. I microwave the chocolate on high for 1 minute, then remove the bowl and give the chocolate a good stir. Continue to microwave the chocolate at 10 second bursts, stirring well in between. It should only take a couple of bursts to get the chocolate lovely and smooth.
No microwave?
You can also melt the chocolate my placing it in a heatproof bowl and sitting it over a saucepan of simmering water. Just stir until melted and smooth.
How to Cut Mars Bar Slice
Just a word of warning: once cut, this Mars Bar Slice is going to disappear! FAST!! Here’s how I cut it:
- After it’s been in the fridge for about an hour, I cut it into squares, then pop it back in the fridge until it’s completely set. It’s easier to cut when it’s still not set
- Or you can cut it once set by using a hot knife (dipped in hot water, then wiped). The heat will melt the chocolate layer, but you may need to use a little muscle for the crispy caramel layer.
Storing Mars Bar Slice
Once cut, simply place your squares of slice into a sealed container and leave in the fridge for a week. Mars Bar Slice can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
