Ingredients to make Pizza Pinwheels
Puff pastry: use store bought for super simple pizza pinwheels
Sauce: I've used pizza sauce, but try bbq sauce, tandoori sauce -whatever you like!
Cheese: I use pizza cheese, but try mozzarella, goats cheese -again, choose the cheese that suits your pizza
Meat: diced ham is always a winner, but salami, prosciutto or shredded bbq chicken are delicious pizza toppings as well
Herbs: parsley is my go-to, but oregano, rosemary and thyme are also amazing pizza herbs
How to make Pizza Pinwheels
Seriously, they couldn't be easier! It's just a matter of defrosting the pastry, cutting the portions, then topping and rolling. Here's 6 simple steps for making pizza pinwheels:
Remove pastry from freezer and allow to defrost a little
Use a steel ruler to cut the pastry into 1 inch strips
Spread on desired sauce
Top with pizza fillings
Roll up the strips
Bake and enjoy!
Tips for perfect Pinwheels
Just allow the pastry to defrost enough to be able to cut through it, otherwise it becomes too soft to handle
Use a ruler and pizza cutter to cut the pastry into ribbons. The thickness of a steel ruler is perfect for pinwheels
Make sure you've cut through the pastry completely (cut it on a chopping board, not your bench)
Leave a gap of a couple of cms at the furthest end of the pastry, to allow the pastry to stick to itself when rolled (but don't stress over this)
Can you make Pizza Pinwheels in advance?
Absolutely! Pizza Pinwheels are great for freezing and can be reheated in the oven quickly and easily. Just make a big batch, keep them in the freezer, then grab what you need and reheat.
How to store Puff Pastry Pinwheels
If the Pizza Pinwheels aren't to be eaten that day, you can keep them in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. To reheat, simply place them in a moderate oven for about 5 minutes (or for another 10 minutes if they're frozen).

Pre heat oven to 180°C/350°F or 160° Fan and line a tray with baking paper
Remove the pastry sheets from the freezer and allow to defrost a little while you prep you ingredients. It's best to leave it on a sheet of baking paper, on top of a cutting board, as you will be cutting into it.
Use a ruler and pizza cutter to cut straight lines into the pastry. The width of my steel ruler is perfect, giving me 9 x 2½cm (1 inch) strips. Make sure you cut all the way through the pastry
Spread the pizza sauce onto both sheets of pastry, leaving a small edge at the top free. This will make it easier for the pastry to stick together when rolled
Sprinkle over the ham, then the cheese and finish with the parsley
Taking the edge closest to you, gently roll each strip away from you, into a pinwheel and place on the baking tray.
Bake the pinwheels for 25-30 minutes, until golden and puffy.
Let them cool a little, then enjoy!
Pinwheels will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for a few days, or can be frozen for 3 months. To reheat, bring back to room temperature, then heat in the oven for about 5 minutes
